What, Like It's Hard?

Hello all!!

The first photo in this sequence was taken around 7:30 in the morning which rapidly had become my new regular bedtime as I work best at night.  The time had come to shove as much information down our throats as possible, and then some, buckling down and focusing extra on the subjects we found we were struggling a bit with even at this stage.

Open Mic Night Mondays at the Bop had become a tradition for Lina and I so although I was consumed with studying and trying to ward off any last-minute breakdowns, we had to squeeze in a last one before both of us were set to leave Boston.  I was such a good nugget that Lina gave me not one, but two heart stickers!! Whoop! Whoop!  I'm seriously going to miss having my number one nugget around.

As unexpected as it was when she announced that she'd be moving to Boston in late fall of 2018, it's gone better than I think either of us could have imagined and we've now grown so accustomed to always having the other around that it's going to result in a fair amount of heartbreak when it sinks in that we can't just grab the other and head to Pavement, The Bebop, go to get our nails done, investigate new food trucks or watch movies over exorbitant amounts of Chinese Food.  It's been an amazing past couple of months and I can say that honestly, I could not have gotten through this year without her by my side.  She was the best home nurse I could have asked for following my surgery and took care of me every day since in all of her little thoughtful ways, guided by her golden heart and a remarkable amount of willpower even in the face of challenges.  I love you so much buddy and I hope this next year will be a phenomenal one for you!!  I am continuously in awe of you and will always be in your corner, ready to fight.

On one of our last nights with each other we were, shockingly, at The Bebop.  I studied away over increasingly large glasses of Whisky while Lina packed up the remaining bits of her things at home.  I'd like to take a moment to thank the entire staff of The Bebop because you guys have been absolute rockstars, an unexpected support system for me throughout this period!!  My favourite cheerleaders are the ones that serve generous amount of Whisky and have Irish accents.

I was given my graduation present from Lina (better late than never) and it was so absolutely perfect!!  Why she struggles to give me presents, I do not know as I quite like to think with my taste being as broad as it is that I'm one of the easiest people to buy for but it was so worth the wait!! She'd originally wanted to get me a ring with pink stones (a'La Elle Woods, of course) but realised that I rarely wear the colour and went with a gorgeous red instead.  The ring is absolute perfection!! It's slightly gothic, regal, a mix of old & new--everything I could possibly want in a piece of jewellery.  Thank you bubba, it's so beautiful, thoughtful and not a day has gone by where I haven't had it on since!  I love you and I miss you so much, you incredible human, you.

Big love,
xxEm
