ARTHUR/ARTURO

"OH, I'M THE HAPPIEST CHRISTMAS TREE
HOO HOO HOO, HEE HEE HEE
SOMEONE CAME AND THEY FOUND ME
AND TOOK ME HOME WITH THEEEEMMMMM"

THAT'S RIGHT. CHRISTMAS TREE DECORATING TIME!!!

The selection process this year was a bit different to those prior but Lina scooping up the perfect mini Christmas tree on a moving escalator at Whole Foods was honestly pretty hilarious and enjoyable as well!  Incase you're unaware, within the past few years Lina and I have begun to name our trees and this year, our piney fresh little friend has been dubbed 'Arthur/Arturo' and we already love him dearly!!

I have such fond memories of decorating the tree and this year, although different in many ways, I will have as well.  Especially with our fabulous star!! I picked up this little guy while going for brunch with Emma at The Glasshouse CafĂ©, unable to walk away without.  Our Daddy loved owls and fittingly so given that it's a night school, my mascot happens to be an owl.  I know how badly he wanted to have come to visit me and London and especially to see me graduate and although I have no doubt that this holiday season will be brilliant, of course it will also be inexplicably difficult without having our Daddy by our side in the way that we used to.  I figured this way, he could kind of still come along for the ride both on the London side as well as for Christmas.  We named him 'Papa'.  ISN'T HE CUTE?!?! Of course, it wound up as our star/topper.

And while Arthur isn't quiiiiteee big enough for me to actually lie under (my presence is a present...I'm the gift), it didn't stop me from trying and we think he's just perfect.  I whipped up a stir fry complete with carrots, green beans, pine nuts, sesame seeds, & broccoli for din-din as we studied on into the night before cozying up in bed after another long but marvellous day in our nation's capital.
