Still A Cool Chick

Given that I was a free agent with my uni-related obligations fulfilled and with Lina gone for a few days, I had the opportunity to be more flexible with my time.  The day was spent with Daddy and then came the night...where be it because my jet-lag had finally decided that enough was enough and disappeared or simply because I'm always most awake and willing to do something at night, I decided to ask around.

Now, I've been away from Arizona for about 6 years now.  Keeping in mind that I, unlike the majority, didn't switch schools when my previous middle school also established a high school, a lot of the people I used to know while living there, I didn't see as often.  Add in the trans-Atlantic move and eventually all of us heading off to university in different states and countries, the whole "staying in contact" thing wasn't exercised very well.

Given that this was the longest I was going to be in Arizona for in awhile, it made sense to reach out to see if anyone of interest was actually home at the same time that I was for the holidays.  An old good girlfriend of mine (Alix) happened to be available so after about eight years we managed to see one another and go through a good chunk of what's happened in our live over (finally) legal drinks.

She lives close to a hotel, where, seeing as neither of us is well-versed in what's going on in Arizona, specifically in regard to the drinking scene, was the best we could come up with at the time!! They've re-done the Camelback Inn since I've last been there but I recalled their outdoor seating always having been beautiful and as far as drinking goes, pretty relaxed (relaxed enough to hear each other that is).

Vodka, fairy lights, live music, and our addiction to tortilla chips emerged over a long night of conversations.  It was nice to get out of the house and socialise for a bit, even more so with someone I remember as being a pretty cool chick who still, after this night, still appears to be one (how refreshing, might I add).  It was so beautiful so excuse the mass-amounts of pictures of the area but ugh, so nicely done up!! Very cosy and even given its size, very intimate as well which I'll prefer almost any day over a packed bar or club.

We gave up on the obscene hotel prices (didn't think that far ahead) and headed back for a night cap at hers (via golf cart, as you do) before calling it a night and heading home to prepare some (sort of) fittingly-timed breakfast with an embarrassingly large amount of salt (don't judge, I didn't use all of it).

Cheers,
xxEm
